Dr. Green’s teaching expertise is in race, ethnicity, & religion in the Americas and the Pacific World. He earned his Ph.D. in religious studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has taught religion at the College of the Holy Cross and Elon University.
Dr. Green’s first book, Tropical Idolatry (Lexington Books 2018), examines the Jesuit Order’s creation of racial categories during the early modern period. He has published and lectured on the African diaspora, historical theology, Indigenous religious traditions, and Catholic mysticism. His current book project is on the evolution of Black political theology.
